Linocut: Freedom of Design, Conservation of Energy

Registration

  • Learn how to carve linocut blocks to use for printmaking on paper or fabric. We will address the basic how to and then carve 2 4" x 3" blocks to learn the technique and then a 4" x 6" block. I will provide a basic pattern for the initial carve so you can systematically learn the method. If you wish to draw your own design or bring in a printed design for the 4 x 6 block you are encouraged to do so. Flowers, animals, geometric shapes- they all work. We will discuss choices of design elements.

    These will be simple single color designs. We will explore using printing inks as well as using acrylic paints to print. I'll show you ways to use these prints and add more color if desired

    $15 kit includes:
    EssDee 3 in 1 linocutting tool kit
    2) 4 x 6 blue ez cut blocks
    plus the use of brayers, makeup sponges, tracing paper , carbon paper, markers, pencils, papers for printmaking, fabric swatches for printing, ink plate, paper towels for cleanup,
    and all inks and paints, gloves.
    I am looking at a 3 hour workshop.

    To bring: An attitude of willingness to learn. Simple designs you like to create your own 4 x 6 block. Apron. Extra papers or fabric swatches to print on. One Roll of Paper Towels- required for all classes.
