The Process of Screen Printing Art Cloth – Sarah Butz (Note Date change to June 26!)

This will be ART IN ACTION.                                                                                                  This will be a process oriented workshop.

  •     We will look at the whole art cloth process from beginning to end, but we will be focusing on the layers of screening. Thus the emphasis of the workshop is on the skills and artistic decisions made in screening.  We will be exploring thermofax, freezer paper, soy wax, water-soluble glue. We will use my screens already made, or you may bring your own.
  •          We will work in small group as aesthetic teams.  We will make creative decisions as a working team and then carry them out on the fabric.  There will be a merging of personal aesthetic and group team esthetic. This may be a new experience for some, with unique insights and outcomes.

Supplies:

  • I will bring the fabric dyed and discharged.  So you will jump into the middle of the process of creating art cloth.
  •  I will supply the fabric, taken through two stages, ( that is dyed and discharged).
  • I will supply  fabric paint used for  the multiple screening processes we will do Sunday afternoon in the workshop.
  • If you have a screen(s)  you would like to bring or an object that you would like to use as inspiration for a screen bring it.
  •  Bring an old credit card to use as a squeegee.  Plastic to cover table.  Old clothes.
