Fee: $35, includes the Beach Art Center Fee. The kit of 3 crochet hooks, darning needle, variety of yarn scraps, instructions for several crochet motifs, paper and pencil is also included.
What to Bring: scissors, straight pins and any crochet hooks you may have. Fat quarter of cotton fabric. (Optional - scraps of yarn to use or swap) You may also want to bring a drink and a snack.
What to Expect: The first hour will concentrate on making a free-form sampler by learning basic crochet stitches and their corresponding symbols. Learn or refresh crochet stitches, how to change yarns, and how to choose yarns to make your pieces interesting. The rest of the class will be spent learning how to make motifs: circles, spirals, triangles, fans, etc. using contrasting yarns, textures, stitches and making the scrumbles grow. There will be several books on free-form crochet on hand to look at for inspiration. Let your imagination take you to some wild scrumbling!
