Mini Encaustic Journals
We will be exploring encaustic techniques to create covers for mini journals. Encaustic is a medium of melted beeswax mixed with damar resin that is painted on a substrate and heat-fused. You will learn how to create an image transfer and also how to use silk with encaustic. We will then sew these covers into blank journals using single needle Coptic binding.
You will need to bring:
Inkjet photocopied Images on low grade Regular Copy Paper - to measure 2.5" x 3.5"
hand dyed Habotai or organza silk
light objects to embed: feathers, leaves, small beads, small shells, paper etc
hair dryer
