Tampa Bay Surface Design Guild, Inc. presents a lecture, The Emotion of Color in Art, given by Hollis Chatelain, November 20, 2019.
Hollis states that since 2000 her work has progressed into monochromatic. “Working in just one color has been an interesting and exciting adventure. Art can carry a strong emotion and specific colors reinforce these emotions. I will be speaking about the evolution of color, the significance of colors in our society, and how we can use different colors to emphasize what we want to say in our art.”
Hollis Chatelain is an internationally renowned and award-winning artist. Through a dynamic and characteristic style marked by dreamlike imagery, elaborate use of color, and intricate thread detail, Hollis creates unique compositions that address challenging social, environmental, and political themes. As a fabric artist, she creates dye-painted scenes of multicultural life that convey the stories of women, children, and the environment. Her art can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
Hollis will be lecturing about The Emotion of Color in Art, Wednesday, November 20, 7-9 pm. At Unity Church of St Petersburg, 6168 1st Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Cost $15.00 payable on our website or at the door. www.surfacedesignguild.com
