Description: To create the images to successfully burn thermofax screens. Then to use those screens to print on fabric that you have already hand dyed and/or shibori dyed. I would like to give our new members first go at this class to they have the chance to learn about screen printing. We will be using cotton or silk fabric that you have already dyed or shibori dyed. Please bring several pieces that are at least 2 yards each. Bring leaves attached to their stems to the first meeting and we will talk about how to create a thermofax screen. We will scan your leaves and run your images through Illustrator to create a black/white image. Then, I will email this PDF image to Angie Knowles and she will burn your screens. (Each screen costs $15.00) Your thermofax screens made during our November class will be ready for you to use in the December class.

    Materials Student Brings:

2 - 3 yards ironed shiboried cotton or silk fabric – bring several pieces of fabric.

Must be ironed so it is ready to print on.

Fabric Paint – Joann’s has Tulip Soft Fabric Paint with a matte finish. Make sure NOT to get Puff Paint or the Shiny paint, unless that is what you really want.

Leaves attached to stem that you want to make a thermofax image with. You will use your own leaf screens to print on your fabric with fabric paint. Everyone needs a 6 – 8’ folding table to print on – I have 3 tables so let me know if you will be able to bring one for yourself.

    Wear old clothes.

    Bring a lunch
