Registration

  • Date: April 21, 2024
    Time: 10:00-4:00
Location: Beach Art Center, 1515 Bay Palm Blvd., Indian Rocks Beach
    Maximum Enrollment: 18
    Cost: $60 Members - $80 Non-Members

Pure creative fun for every skill level! Learn how to cut and layer fabrics to create “seamless” designs in which the finished collages appear to be one piece of cloth. Examine many examples of pre-cut prints and batiks and how they fit together. Choose your project–tiny cellphone/eyeglass cases or bags on PelTex foundations; or larger pillow top, wall quilt, framed art (approx. 16” x 20” size); or jacket or coat. Once you have learned the technique, it can be scaled up or down, depending on the project you choose! After the opening trunk show, June will be ready to help and advise when there are questions about designs in progress. Take all the photos you like for future reference!

    Materials Instructor Brings:

Printed instructions; samples; optional fabric kits @ $25.00 each; optional Asian Quarters Coat & Jacket pattern @ $15.00.

    Materials Student Brings:

Foundation fabric (usually muslin) cut to size OR PelTex foundation for cell phone cases or purse/bag; large variety of monochromatic cotton prints; bold scale print/s for focal motif. Small sharp scissors; heat fusible web; lots of pins; small trash bag. OPTIONAL: foam board, to see work vertically.
Note: Students with experience creating collages may include silk and other fiber fabrics.
