Make an Egg, Melon or Potato Basket ...Sort of

Learn to construct a traditional early  American (actually early European) ribbed basket, which we commonly associate with Appalachian basket makers. But this time we will work with the  egg, melon or potato form instead of the hen basket that we made last year. And of course we will take a few liberties with tradition and you will have free access to my studio full of dyed reed, colorful  yarns and fabrics, as well as all kinds of  beads and buttons and other materials to choose from to so you can be as creative as you like as you personalize your basket.   Even though you will master the skills to make this style of basket, it will be perfectly acceptable, if you go home with something that does not resemble an egg, melon or potato basket.
